| Need some good friends here! |

Hello Everyone,
Having moved recently from India to the US, I honestly find this place quite boring. It's a weekend and I've pretty much nothing to do. My family will be joining me only by the end of the year. Coming from a closely knit friends and family circle which was so much fun, this isn't something I was really prepared for.
For the record, I'm a 34-year-old guy living in Stamford, loves food, movies, music, cricket, and beer! Thinking of moving to the Hartford area soon. Some of the friend's group I tried to be part of are ridiculous, not a fan of the wannabe American brigade. Why are Indians so indifferent once they reach the US?

You always have the option to go back. Don't torture yourself just for living in the US..go back to your closely knit community.why did you even decided to come here in the first place? What are your expectations? Living in India outside India?

Well, yes US is not India and India is not US. You can imagine how an American will fill if they moved to US. So, my point is you have to realize each place is different and you being surprised to find that US is not exactly like India, seems bit naive and surprising to me.
Now that you have realized US is not exactly like India, it is upto you to adapt and make the best of this, or make your mind and say this place is not for me. If you wanted an exact Indian like environment, then maybe this place is not for you. Coming to US is like a trap to be honest. You will get sucked into the lifestyle (eventually) and the money, but will constantly yearn and miss the 'Indianess' that cannot be replicated here. Sorry to be brutally honest, but since you are new open up your eyes and realize this ASAP, and choose if you want to stay in US or return back to your roots.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all your comments. I totally get where you're coming from, so let me get this straight - I'm not here chasing the big American dream. Just that at this point, work needs me here as we have to set certain things in place. I'm not a technical resource who is onsite with a client, but part of the leadership team entrusted with the responsibility of accomplishing certain elements in the North American region. Well, I'm way too Indian to be sucked in here and settle around. I don't intend to stay beyond 2020, will definitely be going back to where I belong. All I'm trying to do is make a friend or two, which I know will happen in due time. Just that, now I've moved and it's super boring.
Either way, honestly appreciate all the genuine comments in here.

OMG it's interesting how my simple post has made this thread into a Living in India vs Living in the US/ Moving to the US debate! Peace out guys, we know there are pros and cons on either side, and it finally burns down to individual choices and circumstances.
I'm seriously happy to see some genuine responses, truly appreciative of the same. I love some comments here, and while I'd like to politely ignore few, thank you for taking the time out to comment or respond.
