Moving from india to Stamford   Confused :(   06/29/2015 03:06 PM  

Hi,
Me my husband and toddler are moving to stamford mid july. Please give tips on what things should we carry from india. We are coming to us for the first time so dont have any clue what things we get there and what not. Please give tips for utensils, thermals, bedsheets, blankets, eatables, cosmetics etc. What should we get from here and which things should be bought there only

you will get everything here. Indian stores have all the eatables and utensils too.if you find issue with anything u can order on amazon or ebay too.

for initial days if u dont want to spend dollars fro every singe thing, try bringing basic utensils like cooker,tawa,belan,kadahi etc.

you can bring one/2 blanket and 2 bedsheets.

bring some basic medicines. parlours r very costly as compared to india . so u can bring some facial kits.

Hi,
We are in Stamford for the past 3 years so thought could suggest u some of the things..mixer,grinder ,pressure cooker,some basic utensils .If u eat idli dosa on regular basis bringing wet grinder is also advisable.bring some medicines that u use for ur toddler(cold/cough etc) .u can get them here but they will be useful until u settle and find a dr.medicines for u.

Should we get thermals innerwear and jackets from india or it would be better to buy it there only.

shopping is same as there. u can buy jackets , woolens here too. but why to waste money till u r not settles. do bring all ur fav clothes.

I would suggest buy jackets and other stuff from here..because in winter also indian clothes will not help nor will the jackets..the material is very different..bring all basic utensils..the indian store here are way expensive for utensils and you don't get what you want..you will end up paying $50-80 for something Which you get for 500 in India

Don't buy Thermals and jackets from India. you'll get good winter wear for cheaper price in US itself.
