A question on money order!   sheerin    04/20/2017 11:35 AM

Hello, i have a question on money order.
Say for an example you purchased a money from a friend's account( using friend's debit card) and your giving me the money order.
so when i claim the money from the money order ,
is it necessary that your friend's bank account should hold that amount when i try to cash out?
or does money order generally mean irrespective of the amount in the bank it is cashed out .
so explicitly it does not work as a check (lack of funds) right?

Someone pls clarify my doubt

Money order is like DD in India. You have to pay the amount for which you are taking the Money order. Same like paying little commission for DD, for Money order also you have to pay little extra charges. Hope this clarifies your doubt.

Money order is already prepaid so u can encash it. It has got nothing to do with amount in bank account. Same like DD.
