Certified Passport (with Indian Embassy)   Santhosh   03/29/2017 09:24 AM

Did anyone has experience in getting Certified passport from Indian for sending to IRS to get ITIN?

I have few question in that.
1) What all document we need to carry to Indian Embassy to get that attested?
2) Whose information should be there in Misc application form? Is it the persons whose passport is attested?
3) Which page we need to get attest? Front, Back and Visa page?
4) How much money we need to pay and in what form if we go in-person to Embassy?
5) How much time it will take?

Thanks

If you are in CT or nearby NYC, send your passport and copy of the passport documents to NYC consulate along with necessary fee. They will send you the certify that, else you can go to NYC India consulate and get the documents certified, all details are available on NYC Indian consulate website.
I did this procedure twice 3 years back from India NYC consulate, [for apply ITIN for my wife and daugther] and another instance is to get certified copy of my passport to get passport of my daughter made.

Just go to NYC India consulate website and all are documented there. IRS returns your certified copy along with your ITIN.

Thanks

Hi Santhosh, IRS will verify the passport in their office calling or checking with Indian embassy ,usually between 45 to 60 mins, they will accept your ITIN application after that , in my opinion you should call the customer care number given to you as part of ack and tell them its all verified

Last year one of my friend sent and it took four months to get back. So we can't travel anywhere until we receive it back.
