Hi ,

I am new to Hartford and would like to utilize this thanksgiving holidays by visiting NY for 2 days.
Can anyone here suggest me which is the best option to visit NY for 2 days.Is there any tours available from here or going to NY via peterpan and then schedule the tour there.
Please suggest your opinions.I am with family.

You can take train or Bus from Union station in Hartford and go to Penn Station -34th St or Port Authority Bus Terminal-42nd St...
You will need to prioritize what things you want to see in NYC in a day
So if you get down at Penn Station or Port Authority Bus Terminal, below are the closest things to see first :

Empire State, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park.

All above 4 can be covered in a day if you have about approx. 8-10 hours.. I am just keeping additional hours as during holiday season,
rush is more than normal at these tourists places so wait time increases..
Trust me I have spent 3.5 hours in queue for Empire state alone, but thats my experience

Now if you take E train from Port Authority to World trade center, you will be able to cover all below but that would also
require more than half day so can be done another day

Statue of Liberty
One World Trade Center
Stock Exchange and Charging Bull
Brooklyn Bridge

Hope all this helps to plan trip better..
Its always fun to have a company when you travel NYC but if you don't have company, don't worry..
its city of most diverse people and you will never feel alone..
should you need any help, just ask anybody and they will be able to help..

Here is my opinion.. going through tour is something I avoid since I like to enjoy places by my time rather than sticking to their schedule.. I prefer enjoying limited places with ample time rather than just touch and go.

For hotels.. compare NJ vs NY hotel rates.. I never lived in hotel there.. NY is like my second home and usually I do day visit there.. but many of my friends stayed in NJ from where they took Public transportation to Port Authority Bus Terminal in NY however if you get better deal, find something in NY.. Just check deals..

you can opt for CitySightseeing tours... They provide 2 days package, where u can choose how many attractions you would like to visit. And yes, you can visit any attraction at your own convenience... Also, keep checking groupon, sometimes you get amazing deals there.

Let me know your email ID, I can try sharing my recent NYC trip plan , if that helps.
