Ex-Meta engineer shot dead his college-sweetheart wife in bathtub before killing his twin sons, 4, and turning the gun on himself in horrific murder-suicide at their $2.1M Bay Area home
The four people who were found dead inside a San Mateo home Monday morning were a husband and wife and 4-year-old twin boys, NBC Bay Area has confirmed.
Friends on Tuesday identified the couple as Anand Sujith Henry, 37, and Alice Benziger, 38, who purchased the $2.1 million home in ritzy San Mateo in 2020, records show.
The husband, a former Software Engineering Manager at both Meta and Google, filed for divorce in December 2016, records show - years before Benziger, a data science manager at Zillow, gave birth to their two kids. Apparently, the divorce never materialized, and after leaving his post at Meta this past June, Henry founded his own AI company
Police said they have been called to the home a few times in the past but did not disclose the nature of those calls. There was no note left at the scene, and at this point police do not have a motive.
The boys were found inside a bedroom, police said. Their cause of death is still being investigated.
Sources with direct knowledge of the investigation said police believe the boys were smothered, strangled or given a lethal overdose because there was no sign of trauma on their bodies.
The man and woman were found inside a bathroom, according to police. They both had gunshot wounds.
A 9-millimeter pistol and a loaded magazine were found in the bathroom, police said.
The couple emigrated to the US in 2018. Henry's father, Dr G. Henry was the former principal of Fatima Mata National College in Kerala, India.
According to a news source from the region, Benziger's mother had been staying with the family, leaving only on February 11, the day before the murder suicide.
