Kia Optima   AB   09/20/2018 06:02 PM

Hi ,
Do anyone of my fellow Indians own Kia Optima? Can you share a review please. Is it reliable and worth going for a used Kia Optima for next 1 year? How is the resale value for the car?

Thank you

My friend owns it and is very satisfied. HE bought 3-4 years ago and no problem. If you are buying used, how old it is will determine a lot.

Otherwise - Kia is famous for putting 30K car features in 20K car.

With 68k miles and 5 years on the car, it shouldn't be a big deal.

There shouldn't be much depreciation in a year but Kia's don;t sell that quick.. just like you are doing your research before buying. Had it been Honda or Toyota, you won't be hesitant.

So in short - not a bad decision but be ready to spend some effort in selling it and getting a good resale value.

Just an example - get accord with similar use and age for 12 k, sell for 10k after 1 year. Get Kia Optima for 10k and sell for 8k. But time to sell Kia might be more.

Right. Thank you so much for clarifying that. Your opinion is much appreciated. I really wanted to get a camry, but its not a cheap car to buy. Atleast not in 10k. So now thinking about increasing my budget and finding a camry newer than 2013,14.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Why don't you try the Mazda 6? To me, it is the undisputed winner in the midsize segment through sales figures say otherwise. Resale might be worse than Kia, but you can possibly look at the latest version launched in 2015. It's a brilliant car even if the engine looks underpowered on paper. It's among the best in real life scenarios though.

I'm stepping into the market for a used car, leasing isn't an option as I'm a high mileage user. The new Mazda 6 and the CX - 9 are on top of my life, CX - 9 is more expensive by at least another 10k though.

Hey Thank you for the reply. Yes i am looking at Mazda 6 as well. But isnt it lighter for CT weather / snow driving? I know Kia is lighter than the mazda 6, but cheaper as well. Mazda 6 is a beautiful car, i love it too. Just worried if its a good idea to buy one in CT especially if i am not planning to use it for more than an year.
Hence Toyota Camry seems like the best idea to go with.
Appreciate your response. Thanks again.
