Yes, recently i have taken my 43 inch tv to india via qatar airlines

they charged $200 for extra laguaage and $200 for exceeding dimensions Length+Breadth+width should be less than 60 cms, mine exceeded by 5cms

i didnt had original TV Receipt and customs charged me flat 30% tax ...

after getting out of airport i didnt feel like it was worth carrying 43 inch tv to india.

Thanks for quick input. Me too traveling thru Qatar.
30% flat on original price of that model in India? Or at price you bought ?

I can save 400$ if I take it as one of my check in and if it is within size limit.

they have list of branded models , mine was insignia and they didnt had that on their list, so i told the price which i bought it for and they have put 30% flat tax...

if yours is not the one from branded , you can mention at low price , so that your tax will be low.

I did take a 50" Hisense TV Last week in Delta Airways to India Via Paris . They did not charge anything since it was one of my Luggage . The only issue I had was, the Baggage was delayed and have to clear customs the next day ! Hope that Helps !

Do the tvs work well in India? I mean US has 110V while India has 220V supply.

whether TV works in india will depends on power rating. Some TV comes with 110-240 V operation. So nothing needed for them to be voltage compatible in india.
if it is only 110-120V then you need voltage convertor with some power rating says 100watt.

There is one more thing in terms of NTSC /PAL but HDMI will resolve those as all set top boxes have HDMI output nowadays and almost all new TV's have HDMI input.

try to find TV with 110-240V power rating as sometimes it is not feasible always to use voltage convertor

It is a nonsense decision to take TV to india. Prices in india are also less now.

400 $ to airlines + customs etc is surely not worth it.
Also you need a transformer worth 3/4 k to make it work.

Totally agree with Sense - this made sense 10-15 years ago when there was huge difference in price and quality of Tvs. But not now. Just buy a new TV from India and save yourself the stress and hassle. If you have to buy something from here get an electronic item like a tablet, laptop, cell phone etc.

Any issues with signals there in India? If i carry 55" tv, will it also be replaced by one baggage or the max allowed size for free is 43"?

Tv in US is way more cheap here for sure.

Most of the Hisense models work on 110v~230V , 50Hz~60Hz. You could download the spec sheet from their website as well, stating the same. But, they do not have the voltage spec written as 230V behind the TV, but given in the spec sheet

to the best of my knowledge , Delta and Emirates allow as one of the check-IN baggage to be a TV until 55 Inches , whereas, Qatar charge close to 150$~200$

We travel with Air India. Any idea abt that airlines? Also besides volt, any signals issue?? Ppl who are using it in India know it better. It makes sense to take there only if it is going to work well.

I am not sure about Air-India, probably you can call them to check .

I just took the TV last week , and the Baggage has been delayed and yet to get clearance from customs , and waiting for home delivery anytime.

Talking about the performance, these TV's would work good using Set-Top Boxes (HDMI Input) , and not sure if our Local Cable would work (the information heard from others, would not work on Local Cable)
