Salary for living in CT   Moving   10/21/2017 03:35 PM

Me and wife will be recently moving to Hartford, CT. I will be working as a software engineer. I got an offer for 62k including bonus.. I have heard CT is expensive so want to know if 62k is good enough salary to live comfortably in a good apartment. Will there be some savings?

No savings rent on a decent apartment is avg $1200 + state taxes are high
Things are costly with low quality

Should ask for 70+ if you have experience. CT is expensive.

Fuck the offer if you are H1B..

62K....Lets Break down your expesnes 5000K permonth, in hand, after taxes will be 3500.

So your monthly expesnes: min 1200 house.. Left overmoney 2400...Your monthly healh isnurance atleast 400...
2000$ remaining...Car ...500$ MONTHLY INCLUDING INSURANCE..
1500$...
Groceries 500$ PER MONTH APPROX. REMANING1000$ ...
So your early saving 12000.... 7lakhs... If you go to India in between your exenditure will be 5000$ easily in a year... so whats left over?

Again on th top if you visit a doctor who is not covered by insurance you end up paying 10k in one shot ...example suddenly someone broke your. Car glass and you dont know who they are you end up paying 500$ ...and like this alot

Seriously which company is paying 62K. This is very low per CT cost of living. You will need at least 70k to have a better life.

62K for a software engineer on H1B is absolute nonsense, DONT accept.

well said!
62k is extremely low ball offer for a software engineer position, unless you are an entry level resource (even then seems less to me), than may be you can take it up to take some experience but make sure to be on a look for a better paying job..

I would have said the same but he is not single, so this is unacceptable. You are here for a better money, so stick to it.
