You need to tell which city, because big cities will have more expenses obviously. You will need $3000-5000 if you need a wide ballpark figure. Biggest expense is housing (can range from 800-1600), car and food, in that order.

What about car insurance, car payment, electric bill, phone, cable, clothes, some local outing, gas, if have kids some toys for them.

It is around 3000 to 4000.

I will suggest live in Glastonbury, price slightly high but comes with good school.

You can come to Hartford by Bus, bus service is good.

Living, I can't say it depends on family life style.

Good Luck.

I don't understand mentality of people like you who buy houses in India, but live on rent in small apartments like cheapos here. How is life good? One of the biggest American dreams is to have a house to LIVE IN and grow your family in, not have a house thousands of miles away! If you have lots of money, why don't you buy a house in which you can actually live and your family can enjoy? Is leaving in apartments and paying rent the best way to enjoy life?

Indians really have a bad habit of judging other people and this is the reason why India is still a developing country. I am not offending u Mr. Vandy or I am not even taking Mr. Desi's side, m just sharing what I felt reading ur posts. Everyone has their own perspectives, why r u judging others. If i like cricket and u like tennis does not mean u r right or I am wrong. It is just our own perspective of looking at the things. Same thing if someone feels happiness in buying apt in India then it is his choice, he is not right, wrong or cheap. U like buying house here is ur choice. Please don't b so judgemental. Try to respect others feelings. Let's live like a family. Everyone goes trough their own struggle in life. Again I am sorry if anyone felt offended.
