Accommodation Interest fraudulent emails/securing the accommodation emails   Accommodation   07/01/2017 07:38 PM

Hi Friends,

Getting these kinds of emails regarding accommodation interests/securing the accommodation. Receiving emails with regards to a post.

They will come up with a message:- my employer will issue a check, etc......

Not sure what will they achieve with this. Does any one has any idea or handled a similar situation?

Email:-
I am interested but currently out of town working on a project which i'll be through with soon i want to secure the place upon my arrival to ease my schedule and work load also confirm i have a place to stay.I'm working on my flight arrangement and job has been confirmed. My phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX the network coverage out here fluctuate calls do not go through sometimes , you can send a text message.A check will be sent by my employer in which you will deduct the rent and the balance will be remitted to my Travelers Agent as regards of my flight schedule to be arranged immediately. It is a way of helping me due to my hectic schedule so to make it easier for us send your full name and address to ensure the check that'll cover the rent and other expenses is sent to secure the place.

Yup.

I faced the same situation couple of months back. I got a message saying that he was interested. I asked him to pay me when he comes here. He said he will pay by check.

A day later he said he will mail me the check of $3000 instead of $1200 and I can cash it and give him rest of the money back. He said his employer was going to issue the check.

I got the check in mail couple of days later and I deposited it through ATM. It took 2 days and the check wasn't cleared. I called Bank of America and they said something was wrong with the check. I messaged him and he said he talked to his bank and it is Bank of Americans fault. I said okay, I will wait.

Next day I got a message saying that he needs money to cancel his lease and his employer is not ready to give him anymore money. He asked me to send rest of the money back. I clearly refused since the check wasn't cleared.

It's a scam! The guy never talked to me on phone. Only texted. Be careful

This happened to me a few years ago when I was looking for a part time job and replied to a craigslist post. It was a driver job, and the person said he will send me a check to buy a mercedes and then I have to take his aunt around the city, thats my job. Later I researched on the internet to find out how this scam works. First they will send a fake overseas check which you will deposit in your account, as your bank account would be established, the bank trusts you and let you have the money or most of it in a couple of days, meanwhile the scammer will ask you to deposit a part of that money back to his account, so you withdraw the money and send it over to him. After few days the bank will know that the check is fake and takes away the money provided to you. so you will pay the money deposited to the scammer out of your pocket.
