Was the L-1 visa under the company's Blanket? Or was this a straight petition? Have you considered traveling outside the U.S. and reentering prior to the expiration date of the visa? In general, a foreign national entering the U.S. on an L1B visa issued under the company's Blanket (this includes the L-2 spouse) will be admitted for 3 years (assuming this will not put the person past the 5-year maximum period.) I know it can't be done in your case since you already filed for extension. But just for future reference. Sorry was of not much use, now I guess you have to wait and watch. Good luck.
