It is true that US is not geared towards repairs - especially small items like grinders. In this country it is expected that once something small breaks, you will get a new one as, first it is hard to find places that will repair, and secondly they are very expensive, and so it is better to purchase new. Other option is to take it to India when you visit and get it repaired there.
