For iron deficiency anemia, did you try iron tablets? There are lot of variables when it comes to medical cost, depending on in network/ out of network, agreed cost between insurance and hospital etc. Blood transfusion is costly and on top of it, hospital stay charges are also high usually. Unless you go through insurance, you are gonna spend a lot on it. Depending on what type of insurance you have, ideally it should be covered as long as its part of treatment recommended by doctor but check insurance website for cost estimator tool or best thing is to call the insurance.. (sometimes I ask Doctor's office to validate coverage and they get more detailed correct answer than anybody else).
