I usually don't respond to any messages here, but you need help brother. First up, the big American dream is a myth! If there was a way to check happiness quotients of people in India and in the US, I bet India would rank much higher up any day. You keep hearing about America from childhood, you believe people have better lives here, more money, expensive lifestyle, luxury and what not! You start to believe this shore is full of happiness. And people moving here and thinking they are super humans or the elite class aren't less. America is the quotient which helps you brag about your success to others. It's a matter of social pride and family prestige, the success evaluation criteria. Now trust me when I say, all this is Royal Bull&^*T!

The quality of life is higher here and that I agree. But then, you're made to believe this is what success means and you've to live here to be happy and maintain your status back home (which you visit once in 2 years!!). You children grow up here like American kids, you go lonely after 50 and you die repenting the way you lived your life. Even the money you save might get washed out at some point with health issues, kid's education etc. And you live on loans and mortgages. The fact is, most Indians living their American dreams aren't even realizing their life is nothing but getting screwed by the day.

Salaries in India are now at an all-time high, you've superb pay packages. Affordability factor (Except for Cars & Real Estate) are much higher than in the US. You can go for holidays, weekend getaways, eat out and have all the fun you want to have at your will. You're close to your family and friends and believe me, nothing beats it. And you still continue to have substantial savings. Living in India today is far better than living in the US

Let the Indians here continue to brag and show-off, let their communities and societies make them feel special, let them believe they are elite and privileged but that really isn't the reality 90% of the time. Indian NRI's are just living in a bubble which they think is happiness, there are not many souls out there who are genuinely happy in their lives.

So you should go back and live a happy settled life in India coz happiness is elusive in the US. Now if you ask me why I'm here, yes for those extra dollars that I'll take back to India. I'm not even processing my green card in spite of an L1A eligibility and will be going back in another 2 years - because I need to live my life the way I want, not the way the society perceives me to be successful!
