Depends on individual choice and how conservative you are towards the risk and driving experience in snow ! I think AWD, Tyre condition and break surely have good advantage when you drive car especially in slippery conditions ! I do have AWD but my Tyre was old over 40k which I replaced last week. Now it is great to drive in snow too! It is an individual choice, budget and what kind of risk you are willing to take ! After all one accident can cost you thousands of $s and loss of life etc so I personally do not prefer to take risk much!
