AWD = All Wheel Drive Answer is no, you do not need it. It is nice to have. The use is if you are stuck in snow it helps you get out of that because power is to all wheels. It does not help while in motion, people are under wrong impression that it will help you drive safe. But that is not true. What will keep you safe in snow is safe driving habits, anti skid technology (which all new cares have), anti lock breaks and good tires. Best advice in snow is - don't drive if you don;t have to. If you do, drive slow and take your time.
