You have to prepare the chutney paste as follows:

ingredients for the red chutney:
2 tablespoon roasted chana dal (roasted bengal gram)
4 to 5 garlic (lahsun)
2 to 4 dry red chilies (sookhi lal mirch) - soaked in warm water for 30 to 40 minutes. ...
1 teaspoon seedlees tamarind (imli)
ΒΌ cup onion - roughly chopped.
salt as required.
some water to grind the chutney in the mixer
