Agree, but don't be Penny-wise but pound foolish. There is another thread where OP is asking whether he should buy new car after 5-6 years. The main advice there seems to be enjoy life, don't worry about future...etc. So yes, save, but be strategic about it. Saving thousands by keeping a car for as long as possible is much wiser than saving $10-20 on a used microwave, which may in fact break down and without warranty, you will lose that savings as well.
