I typically keep the car for 10-12 years or until it starts giving issues such that maintenance and repairs becomes expensive and routine. Again, if you have lived in US for x years and don't have a house or nice savings, then there's your answer. in US everyone has a car, and its no big deal to have a new car. So don't waste on replacing car often. Spend and save somewhere else.
